Development

The internet is a network of portals and pages - it provides a neverending variety of content. Almonst any portal presents content for the user - prepared and managed by editors or by the users themselves. As individual as your content is, as individual are the requirements for the web applications or content management systems.

We do not provide "the CMS - out of the box". Neither we customize a CMS to reach as best as possible the client's needs. Instead, we create web applications from the bottom up to achieve the exact needs.

But we do not reinvent the wheel within every new project. The majority of workflows within an application are the same in a lot of projects. But in detail and in their combination, they are different from project to project.

We are building our projects on top of a rich set of components and technologies. This components begin from content management to community, from interfaces and APIs to media transcoding.

For our technology we count on open standards, we use the power of open source and we also give a lot of modules back to the community.

For the architecture of the application we use and combine the newest and best technologies, modules and services available on the market with our own components to create a unique individual application. We take advantage of different solution providers who can solve a specific problem the best - like amazon web services for file storage, youtube for videos or google for scalable applications.

Two examples with very different use-cases:

For the project zehn.de - the customer is Chip Communications - we are using Google App Engine (GAE) for the web application. GAE is very scalable and cost-effective. It uses the Google Big Table database - which is used for Google Indexing and Google Search too. For integration of video content we use YouTube and for storage the Simple Storage Service (S3) of Amazon. YouTube is probably the most reliable video platform online and S3 by Amazon simply can handle huge files better than GAE. With help of the Content Delivery Network (CDN) Cloudfront provided by Amazon we could impressively boost the performance of the website.

Within the project a-z.ch - a swiss local portal - we don't use Cloud Computing. Instead we make use of a modern infrastructure in a classic data center environment. The application itself is splitted upon different application servers, with reverse proxies and load balancer in front of them. As database we have choosen the open source PostgreSQL.

An intelligent caching system guarantees rapid content delivery.

We live with continuing alterations and love to implement new technologies. Nevertheless we stay loyal towards innovation and quality.

People working with our applications should have fun. Therefore our main focus is on usability and performance. In case support is required, we provide clear instructions and help. 24 hours, 7 days a week.

The usability of our Content Management System leaves nothing to be desired:
