www.meinBerlin.de - Rebrushed

Geo located urban news from and for habitants.

We are proud to present the rebrushed version of the urban portal meinBerlin: http://www.meinBerlin.de
The new version has a focus on usability. With the experience we have made within the last month, we created a portal which is more simple to use and makes even more fun than before.

The technical realization is a co-producation with the guys from urban media. A big thanks to Zauchi, Armin, Jürgen and our customer urban media.

Hello Mr. Valentine!

Valentine Web SystemsA little bit more than 1,5 years ago we founded Lovely Systems. Michael, Manfred, Sasha and me… Meanwhile we’ve grown a little bit and it turned out that the two Companies Lovely Systems in Sweden and Austria were growing in different directions: Austria headed towards Zope3 based Web2.0 Portals (our sister company - Webmeisterei got our Austrian Plone business), Sweden sticked with Plone and is now Valentine Web Systems. So girls and boys, write down the 14th of February, it’s Mr. Valentines birthday. Sasha and Tim, we wish you the best for your future and looking forward to a fruitful cooperation!

Manfred, Michael, Jodok and Armin, Bernd, Bernd, Clemens, Jeroen, Johannes, Julian, Jürgen, Manuela, Maria-Anna, Markus, Michael, Stefan and the Webmeisters Gerd, Harald, Markus and Oliver.

Whats news?

Clemens Riedl is ceo of the tagesspiegel which is one of Berlin’s major newspapers. About one year ago, Clemens and Thomas Zydek from the Tagesspiegel teamed up with Lovely to start thinking about aspects of web2.0 in the newspaper industry and how the future of the news market might look like. Clemens is not only a great thinker he also had the guts to go for one of the ideas. Thats great stuff and i have to say that not so many companies have the guts to do what Clemens did. I think the result is great and i am very happy to announce the first release of beta.meinberlin.de.

Together with Soenke Sprink, Andreas Pflug and Chrstoph Eich from the tagesspiegel team, our boys Armin Wolf and Stefan Holek done a great job. The portal is still in very early beta, you need firefox to get everything done and it needs improvement on every corner but i love it already. I think it is one of the best bits of lovelyness so far.

So whats the thing with meinBerlin?

meinberlinmeinBerlin is the local bazaar for berlin where people meet and generate gossip and news of the day. The thesis is that ultra local gossip is more important to you than big news are, because it touches your local environment. Of course, ultra local gossip is not equal to localized news generated by journalists and editors. So the question is how to generate gossip… well, that is what meinBerlin is here for.
Since the Lovely team is not living in Berlin we located ourselves on the airport where we touch down when traveling to Berlin. We are still trying to arrange ourselves into the shape of a hart…. if you sign up and you are not located somewhere in Berlin, you might want to help us to get the heart done in airport tempelhof.

Check it out and let us know how you doing. We will do the best to make the next release of meinBerlin better and smarter.

Snowsprint delivers fourth year in a row

Snowsprint 2007 - flyerThe fourth snowsprint is over, a big Zope and Plone sprint. This year with 56 people from 14 different countries. We met as usually in the alps of Austria and stayed at the very nice Gasthaus Hirschen. Everything perfectly organized thanks to our lovely sister Miann. This year we had a very nice mix of topics and the results are amazing.

  • performance for viewlets and views in zope3 - they are now cachable!
  • z3 training application - more people learned the wonderful world of zope 3 component architecture
  • Philipp von Weitershausen gave a one day tutorial about Grok
  • Multimedia for Plone - Nate lead the multimedia team and they added some new features to the Plone4Artists package
  • Calendaring for Plone - from the calendaring track, lead by Spanky the best from different products was taken and put into a new one, check out dateable
  • REST - me and Stefan Holek continued on the lovely.rest package for zope 3 that was started by Stephan Richter. We managed to add a REST api for Stefan’s lovely.counting counter with only few lines of code.

Much more was accomplished and even more was taught and learned. This is what some are saying: continue reading the full article

Stay tuned, (or) start painting

Alexander MoosbruggerSummer 06 – It started with a kiss. Well, no, it was a strawberry cake, a quite lovely one indeed, that led me to Jodok’s / Michael’s / Manfred’s office, a gesture of gratitude. Lovely Systems support my festival downstairs in Austria – reihe 0. So, being in discussion, open minds in business settings developed the idea of phone lines based on music composed particularly for pure listeners, people calling, ears having to wait for respond, for people trying to get in contact. Then, in November – what a birthday-dominated month – I wrote a short piece in correspondence to a waltz in A-flat by Brahms, recorded different horizons performed with Hichiriki, double bass, piano, some percussions and other instruments, saws for instance, that seemed to be just right for Lovely Systems, a phone machine reorganising expectations, voices, information. So, stay tuned, (or) start painting.
