Clemens Riedl is ceo of the tagesspiegel which is one of Berlin’s major newspapers. About one year ago, Clemens and Thomas Zydek from the Tagesspiegel teamed up with Lovely to start thinking about aspects of web2.0 in the newspaper industry and how the future of the news market might look like. Clemens is not only a great thinker he also had the guts to go for one of the ideas. Thats great stuff and i have to say that not so many companies have the guts to do what Clemens did. I think the result is great and i am very happy to announce the first release of beta.meinberlin.de.

Together with Soenke Sprink, Andreas Pflug and Chrstoph Eich from the tagesspiegel team, our boys Armin Wolf and Stefan Holek done a great job. The portal is still in very early beta, you need firefox to get everything done and it needs improvement on every corner but i love it already. I think it is one of the best bits of lovelyness so far.

So whats the thing with meinBerlin?
meinBerlin is the local bazaar for berlin where people meet and generate gossip and news of the day. The thesis is that ultra local gossip is more important to you than big news are, because it touches your local environment. Of course, ultra local gossip is not equal to localized news generated by journalists and editors. So the question is how to generate gossip… well, that is what meinBerlin is here for.
Since the Lovely team is not living in Berlin we located ourselves on the airport where we touch down when traveling to Berlin. We are still trying to arrange ourselves into the shape of a hart…. if you sign up and you are not located somewhere in Berlin, you might want to help us to get the heart done in airport tempelhof.

wir arbeiten gerade an einer tagging engine für vol2null. dabei haben sich einige interessante dinge ergeben:

als erstes sollte wohl die frage beantwortet werden, wieso wir überhaupt an ner neuen tagging engine arbeiten, wenn teleport schon ne engine mit nem soap interface gebaut hat. der grund ist der, dass es keinen sinn macht alle tags, mehrerer portale in einer engine zu speichern. denn wenn ich auf m video portal die frequency ner tagcloud will, dann sollte sie anders sein als die frequency zu der tagclooud beim blog portal… also statt eine tagging engine zu bauen, wird es mehrere tagging engines geben, die miteinander verknüpft sind. dadurch werden auch abfragen über die portale hinweg ermöglicht… e.g. alle blogs, videos und bilder zum tag bodensee.

gut, also während des tagging engine engineerings ;-) sind wir natürlich auch über die thematik der tag bundles gestolpert. tag bundles sind a super sach, weil sie eigentlich relations zwischen tags erzeugen. der grosse nachteil davon ist, dass der usecase sehr speziell ist… also die bsucher eines local portales soweit zu kriegen, tagging in nem sinnvollen maße zu verwenden ist schon viel, sie aber dann noch zusätzlich soweit zu kriegen dass sie bundles machen… no way.

die lösung die sich anbieten würde, ist nun die, dass bundles, bzw. relations zwischen tags von großen tagging engines wie e.g. del.icio.us geholt werden. also wenn die funktionalität benötigt wird, gehen wir hin und suchen die bundles zu nem tag bei flickr oder del.icio.us. als klar? das ganze könnte auch als unabhängiger serverce implementiert werden, denn ich denke schon dass noch mehr portale ähnliche probleme haben… also tag in unsren bundle generator hauen, der checkt alle grossen tagging engines nach bundles durch und liefert die. vorschlag für working title dieses projektes: tagquadrat

ausserdem liegt es dann natürlich sehr nahe wenn wir ja e scho hingehen und die portale nach bundles zu einem bestimmten tag durchsuchen, dass wir auch gleich den content davon aggregieren. die story geht in etwa so: user taggen auf m local portal. irgnd n tag kommt rauf weil grad irgendwie aktuell, aggregator kicked in und checkt bei den global portalen nach inhalten über den tag, holt die und stellt sie dar.

somit sind die zwei sachen mal dokumentiert, evt. kann man ja später den einen oder anderen gedanken verwende.
