We are Aktiengesellschaft!

It is done. As of Friday, October 24th 2008, Lovely Systems is an Aktiengesellschaft.*
Our new executive board members Jodok and Manfred will continue to steer the company’s fortunes. We are pleased to welcome our new supervisory board – Christian Lutz (chairman), Mag. Stephan Thurm and Dr. Reinhard Gaertner.

Christian Lutz (Chairman)

The 7th International Semantic Web Conference

The Semantic Web is the extension of the World Wide Web that enables people to share content beyond the boundaries of applications and websites. It has been described in rather different ways: as a utopic vision, as a web of data, or merely as a natural paradigm shift in our daily use of the Web. Most of all, the Semantic Web has inspired and engaged many people to create innovative semantic technologies and applications.

ISWC is the major conference where visionary and state-of-the-art research of all aspects of the Semantic Web are presented.

As you know, Lovely Systems is actively doing research and customer project in this area. Please meet Stefan Martin from our team there!

Facebook Developer Garage in Berlin

St. Martin - our chief mathematician - and Kienes - our man for HTML/CSS/JavaScript - will be at Facebook Developer Garage in Berlin.

We strongy believe that the combination of Google App Engine and Facebook is really powerful and look forward to implement the next Applications with our customers.

Oh my god, are we trendy!

According to Gartner (found at http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=10441) these are the top 10 technologies to watch the next 3 years.

So how deals Lovely Systems with this?

#1 we’re virtualizing our Linux environment since August 13th, 2006 (see our Blog)

#2 our first production cloud server was launched at December 11th 2006 (see our Blog)

#3 sorry, i don’t believe in that :)

#4 well, forget Enterprise Java Beans, SOAP,…
we’re on more lightweight stuff. REST (Talk at Plone Conference in Seattle, 2006), JSON-RPC (this year)

#7 uhm, what are we doing for our customers?

#8 funny. honestly, we’re running on VoIP,.. .since October 20th, 2005.

Ooops, did I crash the cloud?

today we received an e-mail from Amazon Web Services:

Hello,

We have noticed that one or more of your instances are running on a host
degraded due to hardware failure.

   i-c4b111ad

The risk of your instances failing is increased at this point. We cannot
determine the health of any applications running on the instances. We
recommend that you launch replacement instances and start migrating
to them.

Feel free to terminate the instances with the ec2-terminate-instance API
when you are done with them.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

The Amazon EC2 Team
